A letter from past

August 10, 1983

My dearest daughter Amanda,

Hope you and your mother will be doing good and summer would have subsided there. It’s also possible that it would be raining and you out of your habit will be taking a shower and playing in rain.

I miss you a lot especially the way you used to get angry with me and your small words, I miss everything.

I know you can’t write now but can ask your mother to sometimes write letters to me.

Ok my love

Lots of prayers and love for you and your mother and don’t forget grandpa loves you.

Dear Papa

dear papa

Dear Papa,

The warm and bright sun tried its best but it failed to make me smile. Today, I was missing you and was crying a lot.

Everyone was trying to make me laugh but I only smiled and wiped my tears off when mama whispered in my ear that she was baking croissants for me.

The croissants were so delicious. I didn’t count but I believe that I ate lot of them and only stopped when a servant came with a huge package.

Mama opened it and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Papa, it was a doll house. Do you remember that I was asking you to get me one? But, I’m confused. You have told me that every package contains the name of its sender but there was no name written on it.

I was asking mama and she was smiling. Perhaps, it’s a gift from fairy; for, mama thinks that I’m behaving really well these days.

Papa, I’ve learned my tables. I’m brushing my teeth twice a day and I never forget to clean my room.

There’s a lot to tell and much to share.  I wish you could saw that large cake with my name written on it.

Mama says that you’re busy in serving the nation. I don’t know what she means but what I really know is that that I only want you to be here with me.

Mama is calling me to bed and I need to stop writing now.

Love you papa

Yours daughter

A letter to Chile!

chile

Dear Chile!

I hadn’t got a chance to witness the strength of human courage till the time came when I realized that man’s strength and power can make him achieve impossible tasks.

I can never forget that day of 2010. For, watching the rescue operation in Chile was a life changing moment for me.

It was a live telecast and my family was gathered around the television. The day light of early morning was making it difficult for me to conceal my tears. I hate being sensitive and that was a tissue worthy moment.

By the time the first miner appeared on a surface, the emotions were pouring out of my eyes. I can never forget that thunderous applause. Rescue workers were embracing each other. The television camera was showing a contented smile on President’s face.

The moment of family reunion was an emotional scene. The father was embracing his child and the child was crying hysterically.

I was amazed by the bravery of rescue workers. They worked day and night and that too effortlessly. How can I forget that rescue worker named Gonzalez?.He was the last man out. He stayed there till end and only came out when the last miner got rescued.

It really showed his strong commitment to his work.

The 69 days ordeal of trapped miners came to an end when the TV camera showed the sign “Misión cumplida Chile” in English (Mission Accomplished).

Thank you Chile for reminding me this great lesson of life. This great story from the pages of your history will continue to inspire me.

Regards,

chile mission accomplished

I’ve just finished reading an article in Reader’s digest. “Buried Alive” from the book “Deep down dark” inspires me to write this post.

My dear sister!

sisters

My sweet little sister,

You are like a blooming bud. You are young and your mind is immature. At this stage, your life revolves around school and homework. Meanwhile, you also like to watch movies in your free time.

Do you remember watching “Horton hears a who”? I remember you enjoyed watching it but do you know that that movie also imparts a great lesson?

Dear sister, in this limitless world of mighty oceans and huge mountains, we human beings exist like a speck. Yes, there exist a huge world beyond our imaginations. You need to discover it and I know that you are quite fond of astronomy and you like to read about planets.

And, do you know that in order to conquer this world you need to remain “focus”? Yes, my dear sister, your main problem is the lack of your attention.

Why boy fails in college by Herbert Hawkes has always inspired me.

He writes that there is the boy who sits down to study, open his book but before starting on his work says to himself, “I think that I had better sharpen my pencil; it needs it badly.” And when he has sharpened it, he observes that all his pencils need sharpening.

This idea about the student psyche is very true. In order, to achieve good grades you need to remain alert and focus. You are afraid of Math’s. Mathematics is all about practice. You need to get rid of your fears. Just let go of your fears and try to embrace the realities.

My dear sister,Mother often scolds you upon your sitting posture. Father wants to you to walk with straight back and you gets angry upon these things. Remember, family and especially parents are our best friends in this world. They are actually sincere with us. So, don’t lose temper upon trivial matters.

I believe you can achieve whatever you want and in order to succeed in life, you need to believe in yourself. Yes, the self-belief is the key to success in life.

Remember, the movie “The pursuit of Happyness”. You haven’t watched it but I have seen it multiple times and I’d like to end this letter with my favorite quote from this movie

Don’t ever let somebody tell you, you can’t do something

Not even me

You gotta dream, you gotta protect it

People can’t do something themselves

They wanna tell you that you can’t do it

You want something, go get it

With lots of love

Your sister

Once, I found a letter…

hand written letter

Today’s Prompt: You stumble upon a random letter on the path. You read it. It affects you deeply, and you wish it could be returned to the person to which it’s addressed. Write a story about this encounter.

Today’s twist: Approach this post in as few words as possible.

While, eating my lunch, I cast him a quick look. Sitting in that lonely corner of the cafe, that man in his late thirties was shedding tears.

I felt a strange urge to console him. But, before I could say anything, he stood up and went away. I too, paid my bill and headed for the door.

Passing by his table, I saw a folded paper. Out of curiosity, I opened it. It was a letter

Dear Brother,

… We are enjoying spring season here. The leaves are green and the sun is shining brightly. Everything is looking beautiful…

Mother is missing you a lot. Do write to us.

Your loving sister

The dampness of letter revealed the agony of a man. Despite living among the luxuries of life, the man was missing his homeland and the pale yellow sun of a cold winter was reminding him of all the colors of life which he had left behind.

I folded the paper and put it carefully in my pocket. I wanted to give it back to him. After all, it was his most prized possession.
