In the calm of night
A queer voice broke the silence
I woke up from dream,
A mournful song from downstairs
In quiet night, caged bird sings.

This picture is of my third birthday. Lots of memories are associated with it and more than anything else it reminds me of an old reel camera which these days is placed in drawer of my store.
On my this birthday
When we all sit together
Gentle reminder,
Of cherishing a moment
That family made special.
Birthdays are different now but parents know how to make them special. Yesterday, my mother baked this cake for me.

Theme: Circle of Life
I was sure, I could
go back in time which was mine
with framed memories,
I feel the passage of time
but can never reverse the clock.

In need of some sleep
She’s now extremly tired
Of recurrent faces
Which find their way in her dreams
Mid-night, she sobs for her past.
Again it’s time
For yellow shower outside
The street clad in gold
In shedding, trees have found calm
I too left my past behind.

His last conversation
His faint whisper and shaky voice
Now etched on my mind
Nothing is precious in life
Just few moments for loved one’s

Putting blame on fate
I found problems in others
I remained but blind,
Time was cruel to tell me late
Fault was never with my stars.

Each day is a hope
In every morning there is scope
When duties become tough
Early morning sun gives me strength
I feel blessed to start new day.
This post is in response to Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka #Poetry Prompt Challenge #9 – THANKS & BEGINNINGS.
Thanks reminds me of being blessed and for me beginning is a fresh start, I’ve used new for the word beginning here.
Sound of lawn mower
Singing myna, hopping sparrows
My haven for writing,
Embracing this form of day
I have fallen in love with life.
Lately, I’ve been noticing this change in my writing habit that stillness of night creates hindrance in my creative writing process. During the day when there’s the sound of life on the street outside my home, my mind remains active.
This morning, when I could hear the sound of lawn mower in my neighbor’s garden and twittering of sparrows on my terrace, I was thinking nothing but this very line that “I’m in love with life”.

For heart I’ve used love and for shapes, I’ve used form.

Everyone consider
it a childish routine but
I love Zou’s cartoons
Family, Zou and his issues
In it, there is joy and glee.
Zou is a French animated series. Inspired by the books of Michel Gay, Zou is a day-to-day life story of young zebra, his family and friends.
Early in the morning when I wake my sister up for school, while taking breakfast, we both love watching these cartoons. These days due to some settings when Disney channel is being closed by our service provider, I’m missing this routine.

I have used joy for passion and glee for cheer.
